I lived in the Middle East during the first Gulf War. It was life changing no only because of the war but because I realised that while many people believe those who follow Islam are terrorists and hurtful people I found that everyone I met was just the same as people in the Western world – they wanted to find a loving partner, they wanted their children to grow up educated and respectful, they wanted their own home. I now have family in Thailand and I love how they all live together and look out for each other. Living and learning about other cultures has been the biggest interaction in my life that has changed the person I am today.
