When Life Feels Out of Control
I was asked the other day—
"How do I change my life when everything around me feels out of my control?"
And it’s such a powerful question, because so many of us are feeling this way.
We’re taught that change begins out there—
- Fix your job.
- Change your relationship.
- Lose the weight.
- Make more money.
Then you’ll feel better… right?
But What If It’s the Other Way Around?
What if it starts inside?
- The way you meet your thoughts.
- The compassion you give yourself.
- The stories you believe about your life.
What if that’s where the real power is?
A Different Kind of Strength
Think back to a time when everything around you was chaotic—
but you stayed calm.
You didn’t spiral.
You didn’t shut down.
You made clearer choices.
You asked for what you needed.
Even if just for a moment…
You changed your inner world—
and something on the outside shifted too.
Why the Inner World Matters Most
I’ve had people in my life who were incredibly difficult.
And nothing “out there” could fix that.
But as I did my own inner work—
- Got less reactive.
- Calmed my nervous system.
- Stopped spinning in old stories—
Something between us shifted.
Not perfectly, but differently.
Inner Work Isn’t a Luxury
This world will tell you to stay busy, stay distracted, stay reactive.
But learning to:
- Sit with yourself.
- Face hard emotions without shame.
- Gently come back when you’re spiraling—
That’s radical.
That’s life-changing.
Strong Enough to Hold Your Humanity
This isn’t about pretending everything is okay.
It’s about building a foundation strong enough to face the truth with love.
Because when we change how we respond to life,
life begins to meet us differently.
Not always easier.
But softer.
Clearer.
Fuller.
And that’s the miracle—
not out there, but inside you.
I hope this has been helpful.
As always, be kind, take care, and go gently in the world.
