The Ocean

Feeling overwhelmed by your thoughts and emotions during meditation? In today’s episode, I share a powerful metaphor that can help you navigate those turbulent moments. Drawing from a personal experience in the south of India, I compare our thoughts to waves in the ocean—uncontrollable, sometimes overwhelming, but completely natural. Discover how to be the ocean, observing its own waves, and find peace in your meditation practice.

  • This is so helpful. Your story made me think of mine. I was campo’s with my aunt and uncle at the beach. The water was great it the waves were getting bigger. My cousin taught me to dive under, just like you described. But one caught me. It’s a fearsome thing to be pounded by a wave and flung around in the water. I emerged as you did, scraped by the sand and rocks. Ouch. Recently, I think my thoughts could be described exactly like that big wave. This podcast has given me a new perspective. Thank you.
