Hi, this is Monique Rhodes. Welcome to the In Your Right Mind Podcast, where we're learning how to be happier by working with our minds.

If you'd like to know more about what I teach, come to iintendtobehappy.com and let’s get you on a path to being happier.

The First Face at the Gate

At Blue Spirit in Costa Rica, there’s a man named Omar.

He wasn’t just the one opening and closing the gate.

He was the gate.

The welcome.

The opening.

The first face that told you: you belong here.

The Power of Presence

On paper, his job was small.

But in reality, his presence was enormous.

  • He made you feel special.
  • He made you feel seen.
  • He made you feel loved.

And all of that with nothing more than a smile, a wave, and a heart that stayed wide open.

Beyond Status and Hustle

In a world obsessed with status and hustle, Omar reminds us—

It isn’t the title or the paycheck that matters.

It’s the energy you bring into the room.

People don’t remember your résumé.

They remember how you made them feel.

An Unexpected Goodbye

This weekend, we lost Omar.

It was sudden.

And it broke my heart.

But I wanted to honor him—

Because his gift was love, given freely, quietly, every day.

He showed us that you don’t need a stage to shine.

You don’t need recognition to be a revolution of kindness.

He opened gates.

And he opened hearts.

Rest well, sweet Omar.

Your smile will never be forgotten.

As always, be kind, take care, and go gently in the world.
