Very helpful, Monique ❤️‍🩹. Growing up, I suffered from witnessing my parents being called names (i.e. Dumb Polack ) because of their immigrant status. I grew very resentful and hid my nationality from others.
My husband of 49 years is always asking people where they are from. We have discussed my experience and I have requested him not to inquire. But his inquiries continue and are met with a friendly response.
From this podcast I will try your approach of having compassion with this young part that gets triggered and release my fear his inquiry is kind and from genuine curiosity. ❤️‍🩹
