Your Phone Part 1

Today we begin an exploration around your relationship with your phone. I hope you’ll find this helpful.

  • I try to cut down as much as possible. For art purposes I do like to receive photos and need to go through certain apps. I still need help in this area.

  • This is very helpful because I have a flip phone I use only for talk and text and the alarm, but only with these functions, clearly defined, I keep the volume turned up so I won’t miss a call or text notification. I’m aware that I already check it too often and I am reluctant to turn it off if I am expecting or hoping I will hear from someone I have texted. However, whenever I do have my phone recharging in another room or put it in a place where I can’t hear the notifications, I often experience a very restful period of time. I check my computer too often also, for all the other functions that a smart phone would have. I am wondering if I should get a smart phone even though I have avoiding doing this because of the expense and the steep learning curve of learning to use it. I am grateful for this podcast and look forward to the rest of the “your phone” podcasts to further raise my awareness. I am acutely aware of other people using their phones while they are physically close to me in a house, car, etc. and that I feel they are not present with me. I don’t want to do that to someone else.
